Youtube double standard, fight against RT and Trump
RT-German live-streamed Trump's speech on YouTube on Sunday. YouTube has warned RT and deleted the video on the RT channel, but it can still be seen on US media.
RT-German has reported that the Livestream of Trump's speech at the Republican CPAC event in Florida has been deleted. RT-Deutsch quotes the standard email YouTube sends in such cases:
"Hello RT DE, our team has reviewed your content and unfortunately found it to be in violation of these guidelines. Spam, Deceptive Practices, and Fraud policies. We have therefore removed the following content from YouTube:
Video: LIVE: First public speech by Trump after handing over office to Joe Biden at Republican convention CPAC""
The deletion of the speech from YouTube has not only affected RT German but RT as a whole. All of RT's international affiliates around the world are affected by the blocking.
RT-Deutsch reports in the article about YouTube's new guidelines that ban content on YouTube that "misleads people by claiming that widespread fraud or error changed the outcome of the 2020 U.S. presidential election." However, there are exceptions to the rule if one indicates in the video itself, in the title of the video, or at least in the video description, that what is being shown is untrue information.
RT-German rightly points out that in a Livestream it is impossible to know in advance what will be said. So how is one supposed to include such a warning in advance in the name of the video or in the video description or as a subtitle if one does not know beforehand what will be said? One could imagine that Trump would repeat his accusations against the last U.S. election, but sure whatnot. Indeed, the media had speculated that Trump would speak out about his future and a possible candidacy in 2014.
RT-German then contacted Google and asked what could now be done with the video to avoid future problems including a threatened blocking on YouTube. RT-Deutsch even got an answer, it reads:
"You should add some context here, namely that this is an example of hateful speech."
That sounds fair. But it isn't. While the video was deleted from RT-Deutsch and RT-Deutsch was warned, the video was still online at Western media. RT-Deutsch also notes this in its article and asks why YouTube is deleting so selectively. I would rather speak of selective censorship, according to the motto: What Western media are allowed to do, the Russians are not allowed to do!
RT-German published its article on March 2 at 22:40. An addendum was added below the article:
"Addendum 3.3.2021: Only hours after the publication of this article, videos of Trump's CPAC speech posted by other platforms on Youtube have also been removed."
At The Independent, the speech is online on YouTube under the title "Watch again: Donald Trump speaks at CPAC 2021" and the video description simply states:
"Former U.S. President Donald Trump delivers a highly anticipated speech at the conclusion of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Orlando, Florida.
Mr. Trump is expected to speak about the future of the Republican Party."
It can still be seen on Fox, for example, on Fox Orlando, where the title of the video is "Former President Trump delivers the keynote address at CPAC 2021" and the video description states:
"The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) concluded Sunday with a special guest appearance by the 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump."
There is no warning in any of the text as required by YouTube. YouTube is applying double standards and selectively censoring Russian media while not censoring U.S. media.
