Amnesty International get pranked by journalists in case of Navalny

The pranksters well known in Russia have acted again. They posed as Navalny employees and held a video conference with Amnesty International, revealing how this organization actually works.

Their "business model" is to pretend to be someone else and then make phone calls to politicians thinking they have another politician on the phone. For example, they posed as the "President of Switzerland" to discuss with U.S. officials how best to block Venezuelan government accounts. This was a very intriguing story, by the way, because it revealed how Bloomberg subsequently published, on behalf of the U.S. State Department, the article that the "Swiss president" needed as a pretext to block the accounts. The US State Department had written the necessary article and Bloomberg published it as its own article. You can find the details here.

The last time they pretended to Norbert Röttgen that he was talking to the self-proclaimed Belarusian opposition leader Tikhanovskaya. It was so embarrassing that YouTube in Germany blocked access to the video of the phone call. Abroad, the video can still be seen on YouTube.

Now the two took action again, pretending to Amnesty International that they were Leonid Volkov, an important associate of Navalny. They wanted to discuss with the leadership of Amnesty why the organization deprived Navalny of the status of "prisoner of conscience". This status is given to people at Amnesty who are persecuted for their opinions. I translated the word "prisoner of conscience" literally from English (prisoner of conscience); others translate it as "political prisoner."

Amnesty has revoked Navalny's status because of his openly racist remarks, which I have already reported on, you can find the details here. Amnesty, however, is still calling for his release.

The Pranksters held a video conference with Amnesty and released it now, you can find the video at the end of this article. Senior Amnesty International staff participated in the conference, namely: Julie Verhaar (Secretary General of Amnesty International), Marie Struthers (Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia), and Denis Krivosheev (Deputy Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia).

The alleged Navalny associate Volkov has called for Navalny's status as a "prisoner of conscience" to be restored, which the Amnesty people have rejected because of Navalny's racist remarks. The word "racist" didn't come up, but it's clear that's what it was about. Instead, the Amnesty people have said that status is not crucial, what is crucial is to build pressure on the Russian government. That is why Amnesty is publicly and forcefully calling for Navalny's release, which the media are reporting.

The Amnesty people are quite right in this because the Western media report that Amnesty demands his release, but the withdrawal of his status as a "prisoner of conscience" was not reported and even more so the reason (Navalny's racism) is not found in the Western media. The Western media plays the game and willingly conceals Navalny's racism.

Amnesty International openly admits that it is a propaganda organization of the West

The conversation became exciting when it came to the press and press freedom. The Amnesty people said several times that they do not talk to Russian media like RT or Sputnik. This shows that they are biased and support the Western line.

This became especially clear when it came to the situation of journalists in Latvia. The alleged Navalny employee Volkov addressed that "Russian propagandists" from Sputnik have been arrested in Latvia. The Amnesty people confirmed this, so they know about it there. The details about the arrests of journalists in Latvia can be found here.

The "Navalny employee" then said that it would be problematic for Navalny if Amnesty raised the issue because, after all, it would help the Russian position. But the Amnesty people were able to calm him down: they clearly said that they would not help the journalists accused in Latvia in their criminal cases, because in their opinion employees of RT or Sputnik do not deserve any help. Further, the Amnesty people said that they would not say anything publicly about the cases of journalists arrested in Latvia, the Navalny team should not worry about it.

So now we know how Amnesty works: on the one hand, it demands the release of the racist Navalny, of whose racism Amnesty also knows. On the other hand, it is not interested in journalists who work for Russian media, that is, "for the enemy." Amnesty's senior staff - including the secretary-general - have openly admitted that they are not interested in human rights, but in fighting Russia.

After all, if they were really concerned with human rights, they would also have to protect the human rights of the journalists accused in Latvia, whose only "crime" is to write for Russian media. After all, that's all they are accused of.
